Claire is a largely self-taught artist working in Essex and London.  She was a finalist on BBC One’s The Big Painting Challenge, has been featured in several national art magazines, and has exhibited in Essex, London, and Cambridgeshire.

Claire studied Modern Languages at Clare College Cambridge and sees drawing as a process of translation. She also holds an art historical Masters degree and learns much from studying paintings in the National Gallery, particularly the work of Cezanne.  Through a current series of paintings, drawings and prints exploring everyday objects, Claire aspires to make work that is both defiant and vulnerable.  She hopes to develop her own visual language and go beyond ‘finding a likeness’, engaging not only with what she is depicting, but with what she is making.
